This is one of my custom kalimba pluged in to a small marshall amp with a touch of delay. You can find more of my work at kalimba.workshop

Can someone help. What's the point of sellers selling kalimbas in different keys if you can just retune them yourself?
Tom Helps I was actually thinking of that as well but it depends sometimes cause some just build them in a way so that you won't be able to retune

lllEwoklll This is the eurhythmics song. Just sounds different because it's in a different key and the instrument has limited range

Limited range or not...this might follow the same harmonic progression and what not but: you can't sit there and say this is Sweet Dreams because the melodic phrasing in this video is not identical. Key: b = flat and 10 is a third above the octave It should be 1 & 8 (octave) & b10 & 8 & b6 & b6 8 5 & b7 8 or in Solfège do do Do Do Me Me Do Do Le Le Le Do Sol Sol Te Do. I enjoyed this arrangement though, don't get me wrong. It was to cool to hear. I actually was plucking out Here Comes The Rain on my Gecko 17-key Kalimba just yesterday. xd Just tune your Kalimba properly to match what notes you need. It looks like you have 17 keys as well so you have plenty range to work with, not quite so limited. To be completely honest I thought you were playing Crazy Train by Ozzy in the exposition of your melodic motif.

Are your tines on the higher notes bent so you can pick with your index finger?
They are all bent on the top of the tines, it makes tines vibrate more.
hi my friend what kind of microphone or pickup are you using and in what part of the kalimba is installed? thanks
luis moya hi buddy :) i use schaller piezzo pickup, jack is on the back side and the pickup is placed under the sound hole. Oposite from tines, this way you get fuller tone, if placed under the tines sound is more sharp and crisp. Hope this helped you out.

This kalimba vas tuned to E major, longest tine is E. From there is left F#, right G# and so on. You can find it all on my face profile under photos.
I'm getting more "intro to crazy train" vibes than "sweet dreams", but it was pretty cool either way
